Jade Fersterer

Psychologist MEd&DevPsych

I am a registered Psychologist, specialising in Educational and Developmental Psychology. For the past 6 years, I have worked primarily with neurodivergent children and adults, both in the family home and in residential care. Currently, I have a particular focus on supporting children and families from an attachment based developmental approach.

I feel passionate about working with parents and caregivers to create the conditions for children to flourish and realise their full potential. The most important of these conditions, I believe, is relationship.

Fundamentally, my work is informed by developmental science and attachment theory – understanding what children need to grow and heal, rather than focusing only on their behaviour. I also draw on neurodivergent-affirming practices, trauma informed care, and compassion and mindfulness practices. My work continues to be informed by Neuroscientific research and the practical implications for our day to day parenting and family life.

I am committed to understanding the challenges that face children and families, and working in a way that cultivates joy, wellbeing and connectedness both within and around the family unit. I have studied and practiced in the Zen Buddhist tradition since 2009 and taught contemplative practices, including sitting and walking meditation, deep listening and conflict repair, and nature based play, to children and families in personal and group settings.

I am also a wife, step-mum to two young children, and lover of writing, dancing and walking in nature.
